Wearing The Finest

So most people know my dad was a cop out of #12 in Detroit before he retired in 1996. In most pictures here on Facebook or Flickr you can see his gold shield around my neck. It has the Detroit Police crest and his badge number. I’ve been wearing it for years since I lifted it from my mother’s jewelry box.

When Dad was by a few weeks ago, he asked about the key I also wear – the key to my grandmother’s house, a charm that opens all doors – and told me to ask my mother about his call box key. Turns out Mom gave me all the keys she had several years back, and lo and behold, among those glorious shiny treasures – his call box key.

Behold!

This is bliss.

I am entertaining any and all chain suggestions. Right now it’s on a recycled rawhide, but I’d like something classy but durable. I don’t take these off, so it needs to last. The shield and previous key were just on bamboo and wool double-stranded yarn because it was less likely to break after months of wearing it.

Just this fox. I'm a writer of horror and dark fantasy. I totally don't brag about it. The latter statement is an utter lie.

I would check with Pandora (probably have a shop in the mall) I know they have bracelet “chain” in several different colors (black, bronze) not sure if the necklaces come in anything other than Sterling and Gold. They are a bit pricey but the clasp is rock solid and they are guaranteed. I have had one replaced because the clasp was wonky.

Those do look solid, and I’ll have to out it on a future wishlist. That oxidized silver one is definitely a looker!

      Thanks!
