Traveling Music

So I leave for West of here for more writing and complete disruption of circadian cycles on Sunday. If I can help it I only travel by car or by train – you can keep your stupid planes. I don’t consider it any faster way to travel, especially when you factor in how soon you have to get there, the restrictions put on you when you’re there and the off chance that you will probably have no pilot. My last plane ride was from Minneapolis to Detroit, with a layover in Chicago back in February. Due to a snowstorm, I managed to get out on Minneapolis on time, but it took nine hours to get from Chicago to Detroit.

It’s only four by train.

Keep your unsecured flying bombs. The train’s for me. I love the room I get to stretch out in, the outlets for my gear – I watched two movies last time – and having dinner and breakfast with interesting people.

The Amish/Mennonites traveling to Winona and Menenomie were fun to watch, too. I had a little girl stare at me from two tables over during dinner. It may have been the ears. I dunno.

Anyway, I’ll probably spend the first leg of my trip sleeping, as the night before I’ve got a crazy schedule and won’t get to bed before 3am. Fortunately, the train “station” is less than a mile from my home and all I have to do is board at 7 am, bags in hand.

But were I awake – this is what I’d listen to: 17 songs about journeys and destinations, to what’s being left and returned.

Just this fox. I'm a writer of horror and dark fantasy. I totally don't brag about it. The latter statement is an utter lie.

Unless the flight is more than five hours it is quicker to drive.

But how do you really feel?
