It’s November!

Which usually means NaNoWriMo, and were that the case this year, I’d be telling you all about my half-baked idea and how crazy the next month will be for me and to please excuse any lengthy absences. Somewhere in the middle I’d decide on an  idea, scrap the original, and scramble to do in 15 days what I almost couldn’t do in 30.

But not this year.

No – I am happily far too busy to do NaNo this year, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.  I can’t talk about why because a) that would jinx it and b) it’s none of your business – not yet, anyway. I have lots of irons in the fire and I need to keep them spinning. Do know that I am still in full support of my NaNo writing buddies, and just for grins I may pop into a write-in from time to time, just to get a few thousand words out.

In the “I Can Take A Hint” file, I am officially and forever killing the Little Black Book Project. It’s obvious to me (finally) that these books are just never meant to make it to anyone, and seeing the time and effort put in by various people utterly forgotten just hurts.  I’d sent out one more book in August – just to test the waters with a list that I was just sure couldn’t miss. I’d kept it quiet, just in case *this* happened and well, I guess I was right on the money. Couldn’t tell you where it is, and I’m tired of sending reminders to where it might be so, RIP Little Black Books 1-5. I tried to give you a little trip around the world, but I can’t make people mail you, can’t make people not lose you, can’t make people care about you the way I do. Apologies to all who made them pretty and colorful and gave them little stories. They would have been something really special to read.

I’m going to go ahead and announce this now, since I feel like it and I’m terribly excited about it.  My writing group, GLAHW, is hosting two Creative Writing and Publishing Seminars in December at the Detroit Public Library, Main Branch.  We were approached by the fabulous Ellen Simmons several months back, and after a few miscues and a setback that ended up being an opportunity, we slated to present December 11 and 18, from  .  If you or someone you know would like to scoot to Mid-Town in December to one of the most beautiful libraries in the world and hear a great bunch of writers give tips on getting the words out of your head, polishing that manuscript, querying an editor or agent, and handling the stresses that go along with it – we’d be happy to have you.  This event is free to all comers.
