Happy birthday – and all of that good stuff – Picture Post!

First and foremost – Happy birthday to my husband, Doug and my blogging buddy, David. There are many birthdays on this day, but I wanted to acknowledge these two in particular. Happy birthday guys!
Better Living Through Blogging

If your birthday is today and you think I’m deliberately not mentioning you, take heart in knowing that it’s a personal problem, one you should probably seek help for. Just to keep you from walking in front of a bus, however, Happy Birthday (yeah, you too).

Lum, she dances for you all:

Also, speaking of mugs, I seem to be running out of them. There used to be a time where I had lots of mugs from the various blogs I frequented. As I look over my dwindling collection – some lost to workplace theft, some left in my husband’s work van and spirited through an interdimensional portal (so he claims), others lost to gravity’s unerring pull – I realize that if I don’t act soon, I’ll be sipping hot coffee from sauce pans, or maybe cleverly woven leaves.

These are the three I have left:

From left to right – Better Living Through Blogging, Rob Callahan.com (oh yes, Brides and Minions – you can still get it too), and . . . I have no idea. That last one is one of my favorites because it’s a nice, big sturdy mug, but for the life of me, I have no idea what blog it belongs to. Drop me a line if you know. I used to have a Perverted Muse mug (it said, “It’s all fun and games until someone loses their mind), but that one kissed the kitchen floor hard a few years back.

So here’s my call: if you have a CafePress store and have a mug with your blog’s logo or something clever and original, I want to know about it. I want a to have a Blog Mug Exchange. Maybe this will go better than the Little Black Book Project. I’ll retool a mug for little black duck, since my Penda’s Realm mug – while wikd kewl – is obsolete (yet still available through CafePress – as soon as I make a few changes to the … um … product line.).

This will be the first year I don’t have any real plans for Halloween. In years past, I’ve managed to take the day off of work, or get home early, make a real nice Pumpkin and Wild Rice soup, sit outside and pass out candy while I read a book by the roaring pit of an open fire.

This year I have to work and I won’t get home until after the treating is over. D has already said he’s not going to decorate much, and my neighbor isn’t in any condition to do it on his own. If they can get the lights on out front, they may hand out candy, but I know people are used to seeing me. It’s a little sad, because it’s one of the few traditions I hold year to year, but in this first year of my new job I need to focus more on the career than the spirituality. I can do something private on my own later.

I heard that there’s an anniversary version of The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack, and Marilyn Manson does a version of “This is Halloween.” I’m intrigued and a little scared. I’ll have to track it down over the next few days. This is the time of year when I wear my CD thin and I wouldn’t mind a little variation.

NaNo is in two days – I’m so ready for it.

Okay – as you were.

Just this fox. I'm a writer of horror and dark fantasy. I totally don't brag about it. The latter statement is an utter lie.

Awww – thanks, MontiLee! Best wishes to your hubby on this special day, too!

And wow – seeing the old BLTB mug was like a time warp!

I (now) have a CafePress button on my site, and a snapperhead mug is available. Thanx for suggesting it.

But how do you really feel?
