OUTSIDE INTERESTS

I am alive!

I cannot say the same for my partner, but someone find him and throttle him until he posts something.

NaNoWriMo is in 4 days and I’m am ass deep in mini-research for my novel. We’ll call it, “The Messenger”, but chances are it will have neither a message nor a delivery system. I just needed a title and it seems as good of one as anything.

It will be Steampunk – oh stop groaning – and my inspiration has become Ray Caesar, Victorian death photos, and all things wickedly quaint.  I must re-learn my fan language and how to curtsey.  If that doesn’t bother you, you aren’t paying attention.  Also I will not be liveblogging it this year as I’ve discovered that my bent for perfection will only slow me down.  I intend on winning this year (50,000 or bust!), so I really need to focus on wordcount, not so much on pace and flow and spelling stuff right,  That comes later when I release my inner editor who will probably reduce my 50,000 word masterpiece to the title and liner notes.

This weekend had some fantastic fun with these people at a fundraiser that helped people read or some junk. You shoulda come.  The awesomeness of everyone (yeah pal, even you!) made it a really fun night, and I hope to be able to hang out again soon. I think I’m a member now, which means I’ll pimp the hell out of them (us – whatever).

There was also the Detroit kick-off party for NaNo, and you shoulda been there too. We hung out for as long as we could and then we got sick of each other, so we promised (with fingers crossed behind our backs) to see each other at the write-ins.

I’ll put up photos of the costume I managed to pull together for the party at Lush and GLAHW tomorrow on flickr.

There. Updated.

Just this fox. I'm a writer of horror and dark fantasy. I totally don't brag about it. The latter statement is an utter lie.

Ahh, Ray Caesar, with his baroque interiors, and children with the tentacle-fingers, and things with mechanical insect legs. This should be interesting. Good ruck!

But how do you really feel?
